What is Proxibid? Proxibid is an online auction bidding service housing hundreds of auctions all across the United States.
How do I place a bid? Visit the Auctions page and follow the “Click, Bid & Buy” button to go to the Proxibid site. Find the item(s) you want to bid on and click the “Bid Now” button next to the item. You can also place a maximum bid instead (see below). If it’s your first time bidding, you will need to create a Proxibid account and put a debit/credit card on your account. Bidding is free. You will not be charged unless you win the lot.
What is a Maximum Bid? A Maximum bid allows you to place your highest bid amount right away so you don’t have to keep checking back for counter-bids. If the item’s highest bid exceeds your maximum bid, you will receive an automatic email from Proxibid letting you know.
How do I place a Maximum Bid? When you are on the Proxibid auction site and the item you want to bid on, click the “Enter a maximum bid” link underneath the “Bid Now” button. You can type in the maximum amount you will bid and the Proxibid system will continue to counterbid in increments for you until it reaches the amount specified.
What does it mean to Watch this item? You can watch any lot without placing a bid on it. Proxibid will send you automatic emails to notify when the auction is about the end and what the current bid is.
How does the Proxibid lot closing timer work? When the auction lots start closing, the first lot will go up for final bids. The item currently in the final bidding process will have a loading bar. Each time a new bid is placed, the countdown will reset to 2 minutes allowing other bidders 2 minutes to place a counter-bid. If someone counter-bids, the 2-minute timer will reset. Once the 2-minute timer ends, the lot is closed and won by the highest bidder.
How do I know if I won the item? Immediately following the close of the lot, you will receive an e-mail stating you won that item. Then at the conclusion of the auction, you will be e-mailed an invoice by Columbia Auction staff for all of your purchased items. Your card will not be automatically charged by Proxibid. Payments must be made at time of pickup at the auction facility hosting the auction or over the phone if item(s) are being shipped.
How do I pick up my purchase or what if I live out of state? Each auction has its own pickup time window and location. FedEx delivery is only available for select items. See the Terms & Conditions as stated on Proxibid for more information on pickup times for that auction and special auction details.
What payment methods are accepted? Accepted payments are all major credit cards, cash, or local check with ID. Payments are made at the time of pickup or when making shipping arrangements after the online auction has concluded.
Why do I need to add my credit card to Proxibid if it’s not charging my card? Proxibid uses your credit card to verify you are a real person and open up bidding access to the online auction system.
Warranties? All items are sold as is and represented to the best of our ability. If lots are misrepresented, please call the auction manager within 38 hours of purchase.
How do I buy a firearm? Firearms must be picked up at gun store specified in the auction Terms & Conditions. Buyer name on the invoice must match the person picking up the purchased item, and firearm buyers must be able to pass a background check and legally be allowed to own a firearm to be eligible to buy. Contact the auction manager after your purchase to arrange payment and pickup or if you have any questions about our firearm purchase policies.
