Auction FAQ

What is Proxibid? Proxibid is an online auction bidding service housing hundreds of auctions all across the United States.

What is a Maximum Bid? A Maximum bid allows you to place your highest bid amount right away so you don’t have to keep checking back for counter-bids. If the item’s highest bid exceeds your maximum bid, you will receive an automatic email from Proxibid letting you know.

How do I place a Maximum Bid? When you are on the Proxibid auction site and the item you want to bid on, click the “Enter a maximum bid” link underneath the “Bid Now” button.  You can type in the maximum amount you will bid and the Proxibid system will continue to counterbid in increments for you until it reaches the amount you specified.

What does it mean to Watch this item? You can watch any lot to see what the items current bid is at without placing a bid on it. Proxibid will send you automatic emails to notify when the auction is about the end and what the current bid is on items that you “Watch”.

How does the Proxibid lot closing timer work? When the auction lots start closing, the first lot(s) will go up for final bids. The item currently in the final bidding process will have a loading bar. Each time a new bid is placed, the countdown will reset to 2 minutes allowing other bidders 2 minutes to place a counter-bid. If someone counter-bids, the 2-minute timer will reset. Once the 2-minute timer ends, the lot is closed and won by the highest bidder.

How do I know if I won the item? Immediately following the close of the lot, you will receive an e-mail stating you won that item. Then at the conclusion of the auction, you will be e-mailed an invoice by Columbia Auction staff for all of your purchased items. Your card will not be automatically charged by Proxibid. Payments must be made at time of pickup at the auction facility hosting the auction or over the phone/text if item(s) are being shipped.

How do I pick up my purchase or what if I live out of state? Each auction has its own pickup time window and location. FedEx delivery is only available for select items. See the Terms & Conditions as stated on Proxibid for more information on pickup times for that auction and special auction details.

What if I live more than 2 hours away and want to ship my purchase(s)? If you are a customer who requires shipping, your items will be packed and shipped via FedEx 2-Day. Product will be shipped to the shipping address on file with Proxibid, unless you notify the auction company within 12 hours of the conclusion of the auction. There is no additional fee for packing your items if they are small enough to ship FedEx – we charge you what they charge us. We will bill your card on file with Proxibid for your shipping and product within 24 hours of the conclusion of the auction unless you notify us of other intentions prior to the auction. If your purchase is too large to ship FedEx Express, we will take it to a 3rd party shipping company to have it shipped and bill your card for those packing and shipping fees once we are invoiced by them. If you refuse shipment, you will still be expected to pay for the items and shipping fees.

What if I live more than 2 hours away and want to pick up my purchase(s)? If you are a customer from outside a 2 hour travel time from the auction site and you wish to pick up your items rather than have them shipped, you must contact the auction manager listed on the auction webpage before the auction or within 12 hours of the conclusion of the auction to notify us of your pick up intentions – otherwise, it will be assumed you want us to ship them.

What payment methods are accepted? Accepted payments are all major credit cards, cash, or local check with ID. Payments are made at the time of pickup or when making shipping arrangements after the online auction has concluded. We will send a Payment Link via Text Message from our Square account for you to pay your invoice. We will not ship any products or set products out until payment has been made.

Why do I need to add my credit card to Proxibid if it’s not charging my card? Proxibid uses your credit card to verify you are a real person and open up bidding access to the online auction system.

Warranties? All items are sold as is and represented to the best of our ability. If lots are misrepresented, please call the auction manager within 38 hours of purchase.

How do I buy a firearm? Firearms must be picked up at gun store specified in the auction Terms & Conditions. Buyer name on the invoice must match the person picking up the purchased item, and firearm buyers must be able to pass a background check and legally be allowed to own a firearm to be eligible to buy. Contact the auction manager after your purchase to arrange payment and pickup or if you have any questions about our firearm purchase policies.
